ABOUT THE SCULPTURE: Tsunami depicts an American style Arabian horse gelding in a halter showing pose, freshly shod and groomed! He is a happy and attentive guy. Full of details, he is the complete show horse; he has subtle veins, wrinkling between flared nostrils and inside upper forelegs, whisker bumps on muzzle, and shoes/nails. Rear hoof that is partly off ground is fully detailed underneath. He is roughly 1:9 scale (so-called Traditional size), 9" high at eartips, 11.5" long. The original was sculpted in clay by Jennifer Kistler, c. 2002. He was produced in high quality resin by Resins By Randy with reinforced legs and tail. A total of 52 pieces were cast. The edition of unpainted copies is sold out. Watch for a few select copies will be painted by the sculpting artist and then offered for sale!

WHY TSUNAMI?: After the devastating tsunami of 2004, I felt the need to address the matter of this sculpture's title. He was created and named long before this event. I am in awe of the power of nature, I love the ocean, and one of my favorite places is Lituya Bay, Alaska which is beautiful, but also eerie because of the visible evidence of its tsunami from the mid-20th century. And a tsunami is big, not just another ripple in the water... Just as creating this sculpture was a big deal for me.

COPYRIGHTS, ALTERATIONS: Copies of Tsunami may be altered. Artist doing the alterations should claim the changes as their own. The original sculpting artist Jennifer Kistler retains all copyrights to the sculpture including all derivative works. In summary, this sculpture may be modified and painted as desired, but the sculpture may not be reproduced (even if altered) by anyone except under authority of the sculpting artist.

Below is the master copy from which the edition was cast.
