ABOUT THE SCULPTURE: Tsunami depicts an American style Arabian horse gelding in a halter showing pose, freshly shod and groomed! He is a happy and attentive guy. Full of details, he is the complete show horse; he has subtle veins, wrinkling between flared nostrils and inside upper forelegs, whisker bumps on muzzle, and shoes/nails. Rear hoof that is partly off ground is fully detailed underneath. He is roughly 1:9 scale (Traditional), 9" high at eartips, 11.5" long. WHY TSUNAMI?: After the devastating tsunami of 2004, I fell the need to address the matter of this sculpture's title. He was created and named long before this event. I am in awe of the power of nature, I love the ocean, and one of my favorite places is Lituya Bay, Alaska which is beautiful, but also eerie because of the visible evidence of its tsunami from the mid-20th century. And a tsunami is big, not just another ripple in the water... Just as creating this sculpture was a big deal for me.
